Locks of Beziers

The locks of Béziers, also known under the name of locks Fonserannes, are one of the most impressive tourist books of the Canal du Midi.

This series of eight locks allow boats and barges that borrow the Béziers height channel to cross more than twenty vertical meters over a length of approximately 310 meters.

Each year nearly 320 000 visitors come to admire the technical prowess dating from 1697! It is currently the 3rd most visited site in the Languedoc Roussillon region after the Pont du Gard and the city of Carcassonne.
